HATALA ORTHODONTICS

Design Challenge

• To Design a healthcare environment that represents the professionalism of the services provided, a sense of community pride, and a residential feeling typical of the area.
  

Design Solutions

• Use of quality materials represents the level of service and professionalism.
• Traditional wood elements such as baseboard, window and door casing, crown moulding, built-in units, and paneled doors allude to homes typical of the area.
• Hardwood floors, area rugs, fireplace, entertainment center, sofas, and wood tables create a “living room” feeling in the waiting room.
• Use of incandescent pendants and halogen accent lighting enhance a warm residential feel.
• The operatory walls are filled with memorabilia from local professional sports teams and festivals to create an energetic sense of place and community pride.

C. MICHAEL SOSTOWSKI, DDS

Design Challenge

• To Design a comfortable soothing cosmetic dentistry office that appeals to women and represents the marketing message “advanced dental care with a soft touch.”
• Utilizing existing exam chairs upholstered in purple vinyl.
  

Design Solutions

• Creation of a professional high tech atmosphere balanced by the use of natural materials (wood and stone), warm neutral tones, luxurious fabrics, balanced lighting, and soft curves represent the marketing message.
• Violet hues were incorporated as an accent throughout to create balance and continuity with the exam chairs.
• Materials and finishes were specified in a range of values to create visual interest, while maintaining a cohesive and calming design with a primarily neutral color scheme.
• A water feature in the reception/waiting area produces the calming sound of a flowing stream while soothing music flows from the integrated sound system.

Ives Cream, LLC

Design Challenge

• To create a design for an ice cream scoop shop that represents the long history and current diversification of the Ives family farm and creates a fun and unique family experience.
  

Design Solution

• Elements of barn architecture including post and beam construction are incorporated into the design to represent the history of the family farm.
• Use of natural materials, texture, galvanized metal, and milk cans allude to design elements from the farm.
• Round tables with Ives’ family photos displayed above enhance family conversation and connection.

Ophthalmic Associates

Design Challenge

• To create a design for a Lasik center that reflects the high tech procedure that is being performed, gives patients confidence that they are receiving the latest technology, and creates a comfortable professional atmosphere.
  

Design Solution

• A functional space plan moves patients through the space in a professional manner and emphasizes the glass enclosed laser room where patients can see the high tech equipment and procedure.
• Stainless steel finishes, glass, steely blue hues, and linear flooring create a high tech feeling.
• The addition of wood finishes, warm hues, and soft curves balance the high tech feeling to create a comfortable environment for patients.
